Pacific Canbriam Energy has successfully recertified under the EO100™ Standard for Responsible Energy Development, moving up in scoring from a B to B+. To achieve a B+, companies must score 90% or above across five principles:
- Corporate Governance, Transparency & Ethics
- Human Rights, Social Impact & Community Development
- Indigenous Peoples’ Rights
- Labour & Working Conditions
- Climate Change, Biodiversity & Environment
Leading practices were identified in all five categories. This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to responsible energy development and raises the bar for excellence in Canada’s natural gas industry. Pacific Canbriam was the second natural gas producer in North America to obtain certification, which recognizes our quality operations relative to global sustainable production standards.
“We would like to congratulate Pacific Canbriam Energy on their assessment results and advancement to a higher grade,” says Jennifer Turner, Energy Director, Equitable Origin. “These results reflect Pacific Canbriam’s leadership and higher overall performance in many critically important areas, including environmental impacts, energy efficiency, water conservation, and their ongoing work towards affirmation of Indigenous rights.”
“As a producer in British Columbia, we adhere to some of the most rigorous environmental regulations in the world,” says Paul Myers, President, Pacific Canbriam Energy. “We’re always on the lookout for innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies to minimize emissions, reduce land disturbance and preserve water resources. The EO100™ Standard for Responsible Energy Development re-certification demonstrates that we walk the talk in our commitment to responsible production.”
“Achieving this certification is no small feat,” adds Donna Phillips, EVP, Corporate Development. “It requires meeting stringent benchmarks and demonstrating leadership across various performance targets. By successfully navigating this process, we have proven our dedication to exceeding industry expectations and promoting sustainable development. Together with Equitable Origin, we are setting the bar high for the future of energy in Canada.”
The EO100™ Standard not only establishes robust metrics and performance targets but also aims to objectively assess environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impacts of energy development. With 500+ meticulously crafted metrics grouped under key principles – this standard exemplifies best practices in the industry. The certification process is developed through extensive engagement with more than 1,000 stakeholders from the energy sector, Indigenous Rightsholders, NGOs, financial institutions, and communities impacted by energy projects.
“I extend my sincere gratitude and thanks to the teams in Calgary and at the heart of our operations in the Montney who were involved in this journey, and to Equitable Origin for their role in facilitating this essential certification,” adds Paul. “This achievement marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to responsible energy development, and we look forward to continuing our journey towards even greater accountability and excellence.”
